As a growing city, Brisbane is home to many 1 Bedroom Apartments. Deciding how to decorate your apartment or small spaces can often be a difficult task when you have to accommodate for several different activities, whether they be cooking, entertaining or sleeping.
There are a number of useful tips that can help you make your apartment look great:
1) When painting your apartment, try to use lighter colours. (This doesn’t just mean white)
Lighter colours help to give the impression that the space expands more than it actually does. Darker colors tend to make rooms appear more crowded.
2) Try to avoid cluttering the room.
In small spaces, large amounts of clutter including furniture, knick knacks and other items will make a room look especially crowded. Keep your apartment clean and organised, placing items away or in storage areas to create space.
Trunks and wicker baskets are a great way to store items such as clothing, linen and CDs/DVDs. Some furniture pieces can even function in this way, so buying chairs or ottomans with storage capacity can be a great way to save space.
3) Utilize as much light in the room as possible
Blocking and covering windows in blinds and drapes can make your apartment feel dark and crowded. Natural light along with lighter coloured walls will always make a space seem larger than it is.
4) Place furniture in specific positions
Creating specific areas for specific activities, such as a sofa and coffee table in one area of the room and a bed and dresser in the other will give your space a much more streamlined and organised look, as well as avoiding overlapping clutter in the apartment.
5) Using furniture with legs
Using furniture with legs that are higher off the floor is another good way to create a greater sense of space in your 1 bedroom apartment. Your eye will naturally look under these pieces of furniture, adding additional visual space to the room. Low and blocky furniture has the opposite effect.
While decorating a 1 bedroom apartment can be challenging, using these tips will help you better utilise the space in your apartment, creating a more pleasing and functioning space for you to live in.
