Nasrul, I’m amazed at how many people are still trying to go without a good agent. The average home takes a 14% loss for listing privately. That’s hardly worth saving a 5% commission.

Good points. But in places like here (Nicaragua), you need to ask expats who have bought properties locally and get their advice on the best real estate agents to deal with.

Real estate agents are most definitely worth their rates. Most of them anyways. If you can find yourself a well-respected, trustworthy and knowledgeable Realtor, you’ll net more money in your pocket after the sale of your home is complete. I’m an agent in Markham Ontario and it amazes me every time I see one of those FSBO signs go up.
